A weighing hood is a device used to control the risk of contamination of equipment or workflow by potentially infectious materials. It is widely used in many industries, particularly in the pharmaceutical, chemical and life sciences sectors. Its main function is to ensure product quality and operator safety by creating a clean zone within the operating area by means of a high velocity airflow that prevents the ingress of particles and contaminants while the operator is carrying out a material weighing, dispensing or handling process.

A circulating air flow system is installed inside the weighing hood, which generates an airflow to extract air from the outside air, purifies it through a filtration system, and then flows it at a certain speed towards the operating area. The airflow is directed from above to below to prevent outside air from entering the operating area. Below is a model diagram of the airflow:
